Judea Bowl 2024: When We Sing, We Pray Twice
05.21.24 | Stories, News
The Judea Bowl - the summer concert series beloved by the TJ and wider LA community - is back! This summer's series, themed When We Sing, We Pray Twice, features a lineup of Jewish sacred and secular music that is entertaining and inspirational! The season kicks off May 31 at 7:15pm after Erev Shabbat services with dinner (order here), followed at 8pm by Standing on the Shoulders, a tribute to our Cantors in Training (CITs): Past and Present alongside Cantorial Intern Emma Aaronson and Education Intern Joely Bothast. Rooted in Jewish values and guided by the wisdom of our clergy, Temple Judea's CITs stand on the shoulders of generations past, embracing our rich Jewish musical heritage as they infuse our services with joy and spirituality. This concert will allow us to reflect on the immeasurable inspiration Emma, Joely, and all our CITs have brought into our lives, as we witness their profound growth and we send them onto the next chapter of their Jewish journey.
The Judea Bowl fun continues June 9 as the Rolling Steins Roll into Temple Judea with their unique blend of funk, jazz, country, blues, Israeli, hip-hop, and original tunes. Bring your own picnic dinner and enjoy this talented SoCal family with deep roots in the LA Jewish community. Grab your tickets here. Then, mark your calendars for September 8, when Kol Isha: Women's Wisdom in Song will showcase 20+ extraordinary female Cantors from the LA area, celebrating all the ways that women’s voices have become central to Jewish worship and Jewish life. After the concert, enjoy the picnic dinner you've brought, surrounded by friends and community. Get your tickets here!
