The Backpack Packing Event is Here!

As a new school year approaches, Temple Judea is once again proud to partner with School on Wheels to support children experiencing unstable housing conditions in Los Angeles. Led by Temple Judea's Social Action Committee, this meaningful project brings our community together to fill backpacks with essential school supplies for students facing tremendous obstacles.

For a child living in a shelter, motel, foster home or on the street, receiving a brand-new, colorful backpack filled with their very own supplies is more than just practical—it’s a powerful symbol of hope, confidence, and possibility.

According to School on Wheels, more than 65,000 students in L.A. County are currently experiencing housing instability—a number that continues to grow amid economic challenges. These students are four times more likely to drop out entirely and nine times more likely to repeat a grade. For them, school isn’t always a place of fun and learning—it can be a place of struggle and isolation. But with your help, we can change that.

Our 2025 goal is to provide 500 fully stocked backpacks—and as one of School on Wheels’ largest supporters, we know this is within reach!

Please join your TJ community this Sunday, July 20th, from 9-11am as we unpack all the supplies and fill, fill, fill the backpacks!  If you can't make it in person, but would like to donate to this important cause, please click here to help.

Thank you for coming together to make this school year brighter, one backpack at a time!
