For 30 years Temple Judea's Nursery School has been one of the unique benefits of our synagogue membership.

We are a Jewish, developmentally, and academically appropriate, play-based school. Our goal is to create a learning community that supports the growth of physical, social, emotional, language, and pre-academic skills, through developmentally appropriate practices. We provide a positive, nurturing, and safe environment in which children are encouraged to explore their feelings and learn about the world around them. A lifelong love of learning is fostered through play-based activities and child-centered programming, including music, art, cooking, science, yoga, literature, imaginary play, and Jewish values.

Our school provides the beginning of a lifetime as part of the Jewish community.

Beginners
Beginners classes are a nurturing and loving introduction to Nursery School for our youngest students. Children are eligible for Nursery School if they turn 2 years old by September 1st for our Fall semester, or by the first day of the second semester for our Spring session. We have multiple scheduling options for our Beginners students, which includes a 3 day/week option (MWF) for their first semester. This age group focuses on a positive transition into school, fostering independence, introducing classroom social interaction, and nurturing imagination.
Intermediates
Our Intermediate classes are for our 3 year olds, who are turning 4. Our teachers encourage creativity, emphasize routines, and create a feeling of classroom community. Children in this age group continue to work on social/emotional development and positive peer interaction. They are introduced to daily classroom jobs and rituals, which help them to take ownership of their learning experience.
Gesher
Gesher is our school's TK year, and acts as a bridge between Nursery School and Kindergarten. Children must be 4 years old by September 1st in order to be eligible for Gesher. The alphabet, numbers, and various math concepts are taught through fun and creative projects including songs, journals, letter boxes, and art projects. Gesher classes use the Handwriting Without Tears program as a first exposure to basic writing skills. We strive for each child to become successful in both individual pursuits and group social situations so that when they move on from the Temple Judea ECC, they are confident, capable, and prepared for kindergarten.
Parents Association
We are privileged to have a dedicated team of parents who work together to provide valuable financial and social support for our Early Childhood programs. Every parent in Nursery School is part of our Parent Association and invited to attend our monthly PA meetings. There are also many volunteer opportunities throughout the year. Our school is incredibly lucky to have such strong involvement from our wonderful ECC parents.
Enrichment
All Nursery School students enjoy various enrichment activities that are built into the school day. These classes include a rotation of: Yoga, Library, Music & Movement, and our special TJ Imagination Station & What If rooms. We also offer a range of optional afterschool enrichment classes for our older students in Intermediates and Gesher. Our Enrichment program varies from term to term, but classes have included Dance, Tennis, Cooking, Art, Music, Gymnastics, Martial Arts, Soccer, Science and others.
Imagination Station & What If Room
Temple Judea’s Imagination Station is a unique space for our students to explore, learn, and play. With changing themes throughout the year, kids are encouraged to explore without expectation of outcomes. This creative space allows them to figure out how the world around them works, with hands-on, developmentally appropriate activities designed to spark their imaginations. While our Imagination Station is a multi-themed interactive room, like a children’s museum, our What If Room is a single-themed room that allows children to delve deeply into one creative theme at a time. Created with a combination of new, recycled/reused materials, and loose parts, the What if Room is a place for children to express their inner builders, makers, creators, and explorers.
