Our Artist-In-Residence Program will welcome award-winning composer Michael Ochs  to Temple Judea.

The theme for this years' pre-Shabbat Shira Artist-in-Residence weekend is "Music & Creation."  A multi-platinum, award-winning songwriter, Michael Ochs is also universally recognized as a leading composer of Jewish and Interfaith worship music. During this artist-in-residency, Michael will be premiering a new song commissioned for our community in partnership with Rabbi Cantor Alison Wissot. We feel honored and proud to welcome him to Temple Judea to share his immense talent with us.

Erev Shabbat Service with Michael Ochs

Friday, January 19, 2024 @ 6:15pm

We all know and love the rousing Oseh Shalom that concludes our Friday night services at Temple Judea.  Did you know this was written by award winning composer Michael Ochs? Michael will join our Erev Shabbat service to premiere his brand new musical piece written specifically for Temple Judea, under the guidance of Rabbi Cantor Wissot. The service will include our adult choir, CITs, band, and our incredibly musically talented Temple Judea clergy.

Music to Repair the World

Saturday, January 20 @ 5pm

When the world was created, sages teach that holy sparks flew and landed in the most unexpected places.  Those sparks lodged not only in sacred music but in all kinds of music, and by repurposing these songs in the synagogue, we bring those sparks home, actively practicing “tikkun olam”.  This concert will feature talented performers within our own Temple Judea community, along with award-winning composer Michael Ochs, singing eclectic music from the musical theatre, rock, pop and folk worlds.

Sponsorships directly benefit our community by providing resources for excellence in music education, bringing award winning performers to our bimah and concert stage, supporting members in need who cannot afford tickets, and more! private pre-concert Havdalah Meet and Greet with Michael Ochs and all performers.
