It's Purim @ TJ
03.04.25 | Stories
It's hard to believe but in two short weeks, Temple Judea will once again resound with the raucous energy of Purim. Whether you’re singing along with our Shpiel, hitting some carnival rides, groovin' in a get-up, or giving back to the community, join in celebrating Esther and Mordechai's victory over the evil Haman by embracing the true spirit of the holiday.
TJ's Purim extravaganza begins on Friday, March 14 at 6:15pm with a special Purim Erev Shabbat service. Come in costume to read the Megillah, shake a grogger, sing a few Purim songs with our CITs, and enjoy some hamantaschen! Then, on Sunday, March 16 @ 9am, parents from Religious School (both Sunday and Tuesday) and Camp Sababa are invited to enjoy mimosas (or OJ), bagels, and good company at Mimosas and Megillah before joining the rest of the community at 10am for TJ's 2025 Purim Shpiel - a gravity-defying, Wicked version of the Purim story that is sure to be POPular! After the Shpiel, it's the moment we've all been waiting for: TJ's epic Purim Carnival! Packed with inflatables, rides, midway games, a petting zoo, special vendors, and (new this year) a beer garden - it's a can't miss event - voted the Best Purim Carnival on Lindley Avenue 10 years running! You can avoid the lines and get your tickets, unlimited ride wristbands, and midway passes early by clicking here!
Let's not forget, though, that at its core, Purim is a holiday dedicated to Jewish resilience in the face of hatred, and coming together as a community. One way you can honor this message is through the mitzvah of volunteering at the carnival. Simply pick a fun-filled, short shift - because we really need your help! Another way you can lift up the broader Jewish community is to send mishloach manot—gifts of food and drink—to ensure that everyone, no matter their circumstances, can celebrate Purim. This year, we are partnering with Connections Israel to send mishloach manot to IDF soldiers who will be separated from their family during Purim. You can help by donating $18. Simply click here and together, we'll bring Purim joy to this group of people who so deserve our support.
From your clergy and staff at Temple Judea .... we'll see you at the Megillah, the Shpiel, and the Carnival! And.... Chag Purim Sameach!
