Feel the Energy at Temple Judea

Yesterday, as students across Los Angeles excitedly returned to school, the city felt a literal jolt of excitement—thanks to a small earthquake! We’re harnessing that same vibrant energy here at Temple Judea as we launch into an exciting year of activities and events, starting off on August 23 with our Back to Shul Shabbat, the first all-community Shabbat dinner of the season. And that's just the start. Our calendar is packed with a fantastic lineup of programs, classes, and worship experiences designed to engage and uplift.

At Temple Judea, community isn't just a word—it’s the very essence of who we are.  Whether you’re into theater or baking, crocheting or mah jongg, movie night, book clubs (we've got two: Book Mavens & People of the Book), Wine & Chocolate, Breakfast & Football, or just some good company, TJ’s community groups - Women of Temple Judea, TJVillage, TJ Brotherhood, ECC Parent Association, and TJTribe - have something special for everyone. TJ's music program will captivate with concerts like Kol Isha on September 8 and an artist-in-residence weekend with Joe Buchanan in January. For those passionate about lifelong learning, Temple Judea's adult education is rich with engaging Torah study sessions, inspiring speakers, a Spring genealogy series, and the rewarding “Growing Older, Growing Wiser” group. Families and youth will find fun and connection in TJ Youth & Family programs, including holiday-themed Y&F Saturdays (powered by Sababa) and “Shabbat B’Yachad” Friday afternoon experiences open to all our members. And with initiatives like B’tzelem sack lunch collection, Thanksgiving Market, Mitzvah Day, and more, all ages can put Jewish values into action to make a positive impact on those in need.

Temple Judea is also your spiritual home, where we gather in community for Jewish celebrations and at weekly Erev Shabbat services designed to foster deep connections and shared joy. This year, the High Holy Days will be particularly memorable with a special Selichot program featuring Adam Nimoy, traditional worship services, and unique events like Rosh Hashanah @ Camp, Erev Sukkot, Sangria, & More and Beers & Brats in the Sukkah! In December, come out for “Judea Feud,” a spirited family game night, and then for a festive Chanukah celebration. And come spring, don’t miss out on TJ's famous annual Purim carnival and distinctive Pesach celebrations.

Stay connected with your mailbox and inbox for all the details on how to immerse yourself in TJ's vibrant programming. We look forward to celebrating, learning, and growing together with you throughout the year!
