Community is the Heart of Temple Judea

Spring is here, and Temple Judea has a rich mix of events lined up to help you connect, learn, and grow. While the Megillah reading, Wicked Purim Spiel and carnival (March 14-16) are the unmissable highlights, there are plenty of other opportunities to build community, create lasting memories, and engage with your Temple Judea family.

On February 25th, Brotherhood and Women of Temple Judea (WTJ) will host the Sixth Almost-Annual Oscars Night. Film experts Nicole Sperling (NY Times) and Glenn Whipp (LA Times) will share their insights and predictions for the biggest Oscar contenders. Then, on March 19th, WTJ hosts Women’s Health Night, where nutritionist Kim Shapira will offer practical tips on transforming your relationship with food. And don’t miss From Within Our Walls Women’s Retreat on March 29th—a day of personal reflection, spiritual growth, and connection sponsored by WTJ. Led by inspiring women in our community, it’s a wonderful opportunity to reconnect with yourself, explore new ways of healing, and form lasting bonds with other women.

For ECC families, Judeachella on March 1st is a must-attend event! Inspired by the Coachella music festival, this fun evening will feature a live band, delicious food, drinks, and a silent auction. It’s a fantastic way to support the ECC while enjoying a night out with friends and family. Keep an eye out for the online auction link coming soon (and open to the entire TJ community), with some amazing items to bid on!

For our TJVillage community, on March 20th, the entire TJVillage community is invited to the 2025 Dynamic Cyber Warriors Cybersecurity Update, where you'll get expert tips on protecting yourself from digital threats in our connected world. There are also tons of interest group activities - from Movie Club to Mah Jongg and from Shabbat Supper Club to the new TJVillage NextGen, which will have their first brainstorming session on February 26th to connect and plan future events for TJVillage's younger set.

Looking for personal growth? Author Jennifer Lang’s Writing to Heal workshop on March 25th will help you process emotions, whether you’re feeling overwhelmed by the chaos of the world, parenting, the recent fires, or other personal challenges. This powerful workshop uses writing as a way to reflect and heal in a creative and supportive environment. Plus, starting March 24th, join the L’dor v’Dor Genealogy Workshop—a six-session series led by our very own Richard Hoffman to help you trace your family roots and connect with your heritage.

In the spirit of gratitude, on March 8th, Temple Judea is hosting a community event to honor the LAFD and LAPD for their incredible work during the Palisades fire. What a great way to show appreciation for the first responders who kept us safe! Additionally, our Beit Midrash students are participating in an initiative to send Purim mishloach manot gifts to IDF soldiers who will be separated from their families during the holiday. To participate, simply click HERE, select the dropdown for Beit Midrash, and donate $18 or any amount you choose. Let’s show our support for these deserving soldiers.

With so many ways to connect, grow, and show gratitude, this spring has something for everyone at Temple Judea. Whether you want to deepen your community ties, learn something new, or just have fun, we invite you to join us for these enriching events.
