2024: A Year of Connection, Joy, and Resilience

    12.11.24 | Stories

This calendar year has been a year of celebration for Temple Judea’s growing membership. Throughout this year, our spirits have soared and the roots of our community have grown deeper with a variety of worship and holiday celebrations. Attendance at Erev Shabbat services is growing by the week and our High Holy Days were especially meaningful. And let’s not forget our Barbie-themed Purim spiel or our Passover Moon experience - both were one-of-a-kind!

From our littlest ECC learners to our teens tackling college-level Jewish studies with Rabbi Rosenstein (yep, for credit!), this year was also packed with learning. Camp Sababa made Jewish values fun for our kids, while teen trips were transformative. Our teen B’nei Mitzvah students made us all proud, and another adult B’nei Mitzvah class proved that Jewish learning really has no age limit! With Torah study, thought-provoking speakers, and our new “Growing Older, Growing Wiser” group, there was constant intellectual stimulation.

Also in 2024, Temple Judea rallied for Israel -- raising funds, gathering with the LA Jewish community to combat antisemitism, and even traveling to Israel with Rabbi Aaronson. We also showed up for our local community—whether it was greening TJ, helping folks become U.S. citizens, or performing over 17,000 mitzvot through Mitzvah Day and social justice drives. If there was a need, we were there—making a real difference, one mitzvah at a time.

And there was so, so much more.  We welcomed an Artist in Residence for an incredible weekend of Jewish music, held Broadway-level concerts, played Mah Jongg, bar-b-qued, attended hikes, retreats, read books, watched movies, hosted speakers, toured landmarks and museums, gathered for meals, supported each other, baked babkas, braided challah, and more!

Yet as incredible as 2024 was, we’re already buzzing with excitement for what’s to come. We’re especially thrilled to break ground on our new play yard, creating a vibrant space for our youngest members to grow and explore. Plus, the TJ clergy and staff have been hard at work, planning an even bigger and better year ahead—full of new opportunities for growth, connection, and fun. As we look ahead, your year-end gift can help us bring these plans to life, support our wonderful programs and beautiful synagogue campus, and make 2025 even more memorable. Explore options for a meaningful gift on our Year End Giving webpage or reach out to Kimberly Birbrower at   to discuss what might be right for you. Join us in making the next year extraordinary!
