At Temple Judea, our Artist in Residence program offers a fresh way to connect with tradition by bringing extraordinary musicians to our community for Shabbat Shira, a special Shabbat that honors music in our Jewish history.

This year, we are thrilled to welcome Cantor Abbie Strauss, world renowned composer, multi-instrumentalist, and recording artist. She is a proud member of the Grammy’s Recording Academy and an advocate for the arts. She founded the music school, The Institute of Jewish Rock and Judaism: Inside Out and is driven by her desire to bring all people together as one, in love and joy through music.

During her residency, Abbie will lead a series of events designed to lift our spirits, inspire conversation, and unite us through song. Here’s what’s in store:

Saturday, January 31 @ 1pm: Finding your voice: an interactive workshop for teens – TJ teens are invited to a soul-stirring, hands-on session with Cantor Abbie Strauss. This is invitation only. Please contact Rabbi Cantor Alison Wissot if you’re interested.
