Yom Kippur & Our Thriving Community
09.30.25 | Stories
This week, we walk through Aseret Yemei Teshuvah—the Ten Days of Repentance between Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur. It is a sacred time of reflection, forgiveness, and prayer. Together, we are called to look inward: to acknowledge where we’ve fallen short, feel sincere remorse, mend what has been broken, and offer heartfelt apologies to those we’ve wronged. In doing so, we release the weight of the past and breathe new life into our intentions for the year ahead.
Temple Judea offers many opportunities to walk this path of teshuvah together as a community—from our moving Kol Nidre service to our beloved Youth & Family Yom Kippur experience. These holy days remind us that Temple Judea is not just a place to go, but a place to belong—a home where we can feel connected, loved, and at peace.
It is in this spirit, that each year on Yom Kippur, synagogues around the world pause for the High Holy Day Appeal—a tradition that spans generations. This is our community’s opportunity to fulfill the mitzvah of tzedakah by giving back to the very place that teaches our children, honors our ancestors, lifts us up in moments of hardship, and celebrates life’s simchas by our side.
You may have seen our “What’s the Appeal?” signs around campus, sharing just a few of the many reasons Temple Judea is the heart and soul of our Jewish community. The Appeal bridges the gap between membership contributions and the true cost of sustaining our synagogue. It supports inspiring worship, enriching adult learning, vibrant music, social action, youth education, and ensures every child receives the same meaningful Jewish education and bar/bat mitzvah preparation—regardless of financial ability.
Your generosity makes all this possible. Please join us in supporting this year’s High Holy Day Appeal. Your gift—your involvement—ensures that Temple Judea continues to thrive today, tomorrow, and for generations to come. Learn more & donate here.
