Celebrate Shavuot With Us
05.28.25 | Stories
Beginning Sunday evening, June 1, the Jewish holiday of Shavuot marks the moment the Torah was given to Moses at Mount Sinai—an awe-inspiring event that transformed and shaped our faith and history as a Jewish community. As one of the three great pilgrimage festivals (alongside Passover and Sukkot), Shavuot invites us to recapture the joy and wonder of Sinai through study, song, and shared celebration.
The word Shavuot means “weeks,” referring to the seven-week journey we’ve traveled since Passover, leading us to this moment of spiritual elevation. The holiday is also known as Z’man Matan Torateinu—“the time of the giving of the Torah.” Our sages teach us that while the giving of the Torah happened once, the receiving of the Torah is ongoing in each generation through learning, questioning, and living its teachings every day.
Join your Temple Judea community on Sunday, June 1 at 5:00 PM for a meaningful and uplifting Shavuot celebration. Enjoy a selection of music, cheeses and sparkling wine. In the spirit of Tikkun Leil Shavuot, the longstanding tradition of staying up all night in study on the eve of Shavuot, we’ll engage in communal exploration of our most sacred text. This practice connects us with Jews across generations and the globe.
This is a free Temple Judea event, but registration is required. Please register HERE. We look forward to celebrating this powerful tradition together.
Please Note: In observance of the holy day, Temple Judea offices and schools will be closed on Monday, June 2.
