Healing Through Music: Joe Buchanan Who?

    01.21.25 | Stories

In the wake of the recent fires, our community is in need of healing more than ever. While we continue to find solace in one another, there’s something uniquely powerful about the connective power of music. Music has long been a source of comfort, lifting our spirits and reminding us that, no matter the struggle, we are never truly alone. That’s why we are so excited to welcome Joe Buchanan to Temple Judea at the start of February as our 2025 Artist in Residence.

So, who is Joe Buchanan? A Texas-born singer-songwriter, Joe blends his love of country music with the rich history and values of Judaism. His journey into Jewish life, which began in his 30s, profoundly shaped his music—songs filled with raw emotion, stories of personal struggle, triumph, and a steadfast belief that there is always room for healing and growth. Joe’s unique voice calls us to reflect on our own struggles, triumphs, and the connections that bind us all. This Judea Tour residency is also an incredible opportunity for us to gather, share, and continue to find hope and healing. Events like his "Choosing to Be Chosen" Torah discussion, a spirited country-infused Shabbat Shirah service, and a live concert with BBQ dinner, promise to create unforgettable moments for all ages and backgrounds.

Whether you're looking for spiritual growth, a chance to reconnect with others, or simply an evening of great music, Joe’s residency offers it all. The power of music to heal, uplift, and unite is essential—especially at a time like this—and we want YOU to be part of this special experience. Plus, a portion of the proceeds will now go to Fire Relief. So, mark your calendars, purchase your tickets, and join us in welcoming Joe Buchanan to Temple Judea for an unforgettable journey of music and community.
