Commemorating October 7
10.01.24 | Stories, News, Israel
While Rosh Hashanah is a time of joy and celebration, it also invites us to reflect on the year that has passed. This year, that reflection takes on a deeper significance as we remember the tragic attack that took place almost one year ago on October 7. This October 7, during the period between Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur, Temple Judea and Temple Ahavat Shalom will unite as one community for a special evening service, led by our joint clergy in prayer, music, and reflection. Dor Kaminka, an Israeli-American, will speak of his cousin, IDF 1st Lt. Yannai Kaminka, z'l, who was killed defending Zikim Base on October 7th while saving the lives of civilians and other soldiers. Together, we will stand strong in memory of those we've lost while also looking toward the New Year with hope, praying for the safe return of those still in captivity. In joy and in sorrow, we hold that "All Israel is Responsible for One Another," and we invite everyone to register for this meaningful opportunity to give and receive comfort from your Jewish community. As we embark on 5785 together, let us hold both our joys and sorrows close to our hearts. May this year be one of healing, hope, and unity for all. Looking forward to celebrating and reflecting together in the days ahead! *As we prepare for the holy days, please note that our administrative offices will be closed for Rosh Hashanah starting at noon tomorrow, and will remain closed through Friday, October 4. If you need to reach a staff member, please do so before our office closes. Please also remember that today is also the last day to reserve tickets, so don’t miss out!*
