DON'T DELAY, PLAN NOW FOR MITZVAH DAY! On May 17, we invite you to come together for Mitzvah Day—our biggest day of community action! There will be something for everyone; the day features a blood drive, e-waste recycling, donation collections, and hands-on social action projects for all ages. This isn’t just for the Social Action Committee, it’s for the entire Temple Judea community and we can’t wait to see you all there!

You can start planning for your day of community action NOW by collecting items to bring in on Mitzvah Day! We are looking for the following items: e-waste, old towels and blankets, non-perishable food, old t-shirts for dog toys and new and unopened cleaning supplies such as Ajax, bleach, Pine-Sol, Windex, liquid dish soap, liquid hand soap, laundry detergent, fabric softener, dryer sheets.

The day will begin at 9am with a Red Cross Blood Drive. Click here to sign up – all donors will receive a $20 Amazon gift card!

Mitzvah Day programming will begin at 10:30am and there are many activities to get involved in, including:

  • Making fleece blankets for My Stuff Bags and assembling duffle bags with essentials for Foster Love. Both activities will benefit children in foster care.
  • Making sack lunches and knitting caps & scarves for Hope: the Mission to benefit the unhoused community.
  • Writing letters to soldiers for Operation Gratitude to be forwarded to military personnel and veterans.
  • Decorating canvas tote bags for senior residents of Los Angeles Jewish Health.
  • Making dog toys for Bundles of Kindness to benefit neighbors in need.
  • Making bookmarks for kids to receive with book donations through Reading Heart.
  • Making get well cards for ill children through Cards for Hospitalized Kids.

We are so excited about the day’s events and are looking for volunteers! Please email Jennifer Lutzky if are interested in running an activity at . We look forward to seeing you all on May 17 for a day of community, compassion, and connection.
