Summer may be in full swing but it's never too early to think about going back to school and how we can all make a difference. That's why every year, the Social Action Committee purchases and packs hundreds of backpacks and sends them to School on Wheels to benefit students across LA County who experience homelessness. This year our backpack packing event is on Sunday, July 26 at 9am. Donate and sign up here!
A backpack may seem like a simple thing, but for a child without a stable place to call home, it represents so much more. It serves as a reminder that they matter, and that people are looking out for them. Every notebook, pencil, and folder is a reminder that our community believes every child deserves the opportunity to learn, grow, and succeed.
This mitzvah is one that truly brings our community together. Children, teens, parents, grandparents, and friends all work side by side, packing piles of supplies into backpacks that will help students begin the school year with dignity and hope. This year, our goal is to pack 500 backpacks, continuing Temple Judea's proud tradition as one of School on Wheels' largest community partners. Whether you donate supplies, make a financial contribution, or join us for the packing event, every act of generosity helps a child feel prepared for the first day of school. If you can't attend our July 26 event but would still like to support this important effort, donations are always welcome.
Together, we can help ensure that every child begins the school year knowing that an entire community is behind them.
